Frequently Asked Questions

Is taking out insurance compulsory?

No, however, it is highly recommended that you do; as it will cover you on any unfortunate accidents or injuries.

Can I have a guaranteed seat?

To guarantee yourself a seat of your choice, a reservation must be made at the time of booking and a fee of £10 will be charged per seat, subject to availability. Paying a reservation fee ensures you have your front seat for both journeys and all the included excursions. (Although we will still try and accommodate disabled passengers near the front free of charge)

Can you arrange a special tour for my club or private group?

We can tailor-make any day trips/ holidays tour for your group, team or society. Our group sales team has many years experience in Phoenix Tours and can advise you on how to make your group travel easy. Or alternatively, have a look at the Group travel section for more information.

Is smoking or drinking permitted on the coach?

Smoking is NOT permitted on the coach as of the new law in placed in 2007. Frequent stops shall be made for smokers.

Can I bring a wheelchair?

A Wheelchair may be brought, although it may not be taken on board the coach. However, it can be stored in the storage compartment provided that the user is able to get on and off the coach. A wheelchair reservation space must be made. There is NO FEE FOR WHEELCHAIR RESERVATION.

How much luggage can I bring?

The size of luggage depends on the length of your trip. As we have to consider the needs of other travellers the luggage size must be kept to a medium sized suitcase (20KG).

Can I bring a pushchair/pram with me?

A pushchair or pram may be carried along with you, bearing in mind the fact that it must be stored in the coaches’ luggage department.

When is my deposit payment due?

Once you have booked onto a tour, we will send you a booking letter and payment slip. You should then either return the payment slip to us together with the amount due which is to be sent by cheque or call us to pay by debit or credit card

Can I book by telephone?

Do your coaches cross by Ferry or Eurotunnel ?

It could be either, as we use both P&O Ferries, Sea France (Dover – Calais) and Eurotunnel. Depending on the type of your holiday and time availability.

What are the cancellation charges?

If you want to cancel your booking after we have confirmed it, you must to do it in writing. Your notice of cancellation will only be effective when we receive it in writing at our offices. If you cancel your booking, we will ask you to pay cancellation charges per person on the scale shown in our ‘terms & conditions segment’.

When will the pickup time be advised?

The pick-up times will be advised to you in the Final Confirmation sent to you, which will be no later than 14 days prior to your holiday.

Do I need a passport to go on my holiday?

You only need your passport if you go to a Europe holiday/Daytrip. i.e. Folkestone. On the Ireland Holidays, you are required by law to carry a form of photo I.D. such as a bus pass, driving licence or passport.

Will I be travelling with reliable company?

Will I have time on my own?

Of course, You will be allowed time to travel on your own whenever it is possible, However in busy areas it may be advisable to be close to the rest of the group, or, to know exactly where you need to be in time to leave.

How do I change my currency?

Currency can be exchanged on the Ferries or banks throughout Europe, and traveller’s cheques are easy to obtain. Whilst small amounts of cash are necessary, it is advisable to carry mainly traveller’s cheques as they can be replaced if lost or stolen. Also, most bank machines (ATM’s) throughout Europe accept debit cards.

Are the hotels air-conditioned?

The majority of hotels have air conditioning but not all. Fewer hotels in Switzerland skiing resorts may not have air conditioning there due to the cold weather conditions.

If I lose something on tour can I get it back?

We will try our best to retrace your missing items. You may be expected to pay any charges involved.

If I am travelling alone will I have to share a room with anyone, or can I have my own room?

The choice is up to you. If you wish to have your own room extra charges may be applied which is known as a single supplement fee. If you wish to share a room (this must be with anyone of the same gender) this can also be arranged, if we have another single booking.
