Trip Summary
Oktoberfest is the greatest festival in Germany and one of the Worlds largest fairs lasting typically 16-18 days, with over 6 million visitors from all over the world coming to Munich, to enjoy plenty of beer, sausage and great German hospitality. The very first Oktobertfest was held in October 1810, it was to celebrate the marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese.
The Oktoberfest begins with the traditional tapping of the first beer barrel - in the “Schottenhamel” beer tent. Only after this has happened can the other tents begin to sell beer.
